Chapter 129

Vincent's answer was blunt. "Not yet."

"Huh?" Both Danica and Brinley stared at him in disbelief.

Danica's mind raced through the worst possible scenarios. "Did Hannah back out again? Or is she making new demands now?"

Vincent shook his head, a troubled look crossing his face. "That's not it."

"Then what's the problem?" Danica asked, looking thoroughly confused.

Vincent chose his words carefully. "The divorce agreement wasn't fair to her. It needs to be rewritten. We can't finalize anything yet."

Brinley's lips pressed into a thin line, frustration flickering in her eyes.

Danica couldn't hide her irritation. "But l've already signed over ten properties to her! Isn't that more than generous?"

After what happened, Danica had already consulted with a lawyer. Hannah was right-those properties were as good as lost.

Vincent's reply was sharp. "She's still my wife. Everything under my name needs to be split the right way."

"That's ridiculous!" Danica protested, bitterness seeping into her voice. "Hannah did nothing for the company! Why should she get half of what you've built?"

Vincent shot her an icy glare. "I told you-stay out of my business."

Without another word, Vincent turned and walked away.

As soon as he was out of sight, Brinley leaned closer to comfort Danica."on't worry, Mrs. Jones. One way or another, things will work out for us."

Brinley reached out, giving Danica's shoulder a reassuring pat."|t′Ssjust about dividing assets. There's no sense letting this come between you and Vincent. Let him take care of it however he wants. Honestly, he's not listening to us right now anyway-it's best to let him be."

Danica released a weary sigh. "At least that troublesome Hannah is finally out of the picture." Her gaze sharpened with purpose. "Now all that's left is making sure you and Vincent end up together."

Brinley offered a gentle smile, but her eyes quickly turned cold. What really mattered was wiping out any bitterness Vincent still harbored toward her.

When Nova Tech moved offices, Felix and Hannah surprised everyone by giving the entire team a day off.

Seeing a rare window of free time, Hannah picked up her phone and called Vincent, determined to lock in a date to settle their divorce once and for all.

But,yet again, Vincent gave her an excuse. He couldn't make it.

Not wanting to waste her day off, Hannah tried another approach. "Then just let Derek deal with it for you."

"No," Vincent shot back, his refusal immediate and final.

Hannah's frustration was plain in her voice. "No to everything. Vincent, are you just dragging this out on purpose? If you don't wvant the divorce, why not just admit it?"

The line went silent for a long stretch.

She almost hung up, thinking he'd disconnected. But just before she put down the phone, his voice finally came through. "You're right. I don't want the divorce.".

Hannah's hand stilled, a jolt of disbelief freezing her in place. Had she heard him right? Vincent? Refusing the divorce? But wasn't he and Brinley already on the verge of getting engaged? She chose to brush it off. With a bidding for Miles's company on the horizon, she wasn't about to waste her only free day.

Planting her feet, she spoke with new resolve. "I'm picking you up now. Just give me thirty minutes. Bring the documents, and we'll settle the divorce at the courthouse."

Without waiting for his reply, she ended the call.

Vincent stared at his screen for a wvhile before summoning his legal counsel. "I need a new draft for the divorce agreement," he instructed, his tone measured. "No rush. Do it slowly. Got it?"

The legal counsel gave a confused nod, uncertainty still written across his face.

Twenty minutes later, Hannah pulled up in front of the Jones Group headquarters. She sent a text. "I'm here.Come down."

Vincent's response was swift. "Something's come up. You'll have to come upstairs instead."

Hannah shot back, "No." The last thing she wanted was to parade through his company, attracting more unwanted attention.

He sent another message. "This is about the divorce. It's urgent. If you don't come upstairs, we won't get the paperwork filed today."

With a frustrated sigh, Hannah grabbed her bag and headed inside.

To her surprise, there weren't as many stares or whispers as before. Aside from Clive, who still couldn't hide his dislike, most people seemed to treat her with newfound respect.

She walked into Vincent's office, only to find him in deep conversation with another man. Annoyance flared."So this is the urgent business? You wanted me to watch your meeting?"

Was he messing with her again? She spun on her heel to leave, but Vincent quickly caught her wrist and pulled the door shut behind them.

"He's our legal counsel. He's here to help rewrite the divorce agreement," Vincent explained.
