Chapter 161
Hannah smiled. "In that case, make the most of these next three days."
"Definitely," Felix replied.
But the next morning, when he knocked on her guesthouse room door multiple times, there was no response.
Felix didn't insist, knowing she had been exhausted lately. Instead, he spent the day sightseeing alone and didn't return to the guesthouse until around five in the evening.
Inside the lobby, Hannah was seated comfortably, chatting with a group of guests. Her head was slightly tilted back, her smile radiant, eyes sparkling with joy. She looked effortlessly captivating.
As if sensing someone's gaze, Hannah turned her head and scanned the room. Her eyes met his briefly, and in that fleeting second, Felix felt his heart skip a beat.
"You're back. I heard from the manager that you left early," Hannah said, stepping away from the group and walking toward him in a light blue dress.
"Yeah, I went out to explore a few spots," he replied, reaching for a glass of water and taking a few long sips.
"I think I overslept today," Hannah said, rubbing her temples. "Let's go out tonight."
"How about a cruise on the Comet River? I've heard it's one of the highlights here," Felix suggested.
Hannah's face lit up. "Sounds perfect. A cool night breeze would be lovely."
Felix nodded, the corners of his lips curving into a smile he couldn't hide.
Tonight's cruise on the Comet River featured a special wedding experience event. He hoped to share this experience with Hannah, a secret wish of his. He'd spoken to the guesthouse manager the day before to arrange a romantic setting. Once they returned from the cruise, he planned to confess his feelings for her.
Meanwhile, Vincent had just landed and gone straight to Hannah'slocation. He wanted to see her,yet the thought alone weighed heavily on him. Guilt wrapped tightly around his chest. He wasn't sure how to face her now.
As Andres Lopez, the project manager, led Vincent through an inspection of the facility, Vincent's expression grew darker by the minute, making Andres increasingly uneasy.
Andres suggested, "Mr. Jones, we've gone over most of the essentials. How about I take you to meet an old acquaintance?"
"An old acquaintance?" Vincent asked, puzzled. As far as he knew, he had no personal acquaintances in Elaria-only business contacts. The only one who fit the description was Hannah, who happened to be traveling here. His eyes lit up. "She's here to see me?"
"Yes. I gave her the address," Andres replied, watching the subtle shift in Vincent's expression and sensing a rare opportunity to make a good impression.
"Take me to her." Vincent's tone shifted, urgency replacing confusion. If Hannah had gone so far as.to track him down in a foreign country, something serious must have happened.
Andres quickly led the way to the reception area.
But instead of Hannah, they found Brinley and Daphne waiting.
Vincent's brows furrowed. "What are you two doing here?"
Andres blinked, startled. Wasn't Brinley supposed to be Vincent's fiancée? Then why did Vincent's expression turn colder upon seeing her?
Daphne turned away with a scoff. If not for Brinley's persistence, she wouldn't have bothered facing Vincent's frostbitten mood again. She still nursed a grudge against him from the previous incident.
Brinley greeted Vincent warmly, "Daphne and I are on holiday. When we heard you were here on business,we thought we'd stop by to see you."
Vincent replied coldly, "I see."
"Vincent, am I bothering you?" Brinley asked, her voice tinged with grievance.
He didn't respond.
Seeing the tension rise, Andres quickly jumped in."Oh, no, not at all. Mr. Jones has been swamped since he landed-he hasn't even had time to rest properly. The remaining work is mostly wrap-up tasks. I can handle them."
Vincent turned to him, his gaze sharp. "Since when did you start managing my schedule?"
"I-I didn't mean to overstep-I just thought you could use a break," Andres stammered, sweat forming on his forehead. "There's a special event on the Comet River cruise tonight. Would you like me to reserve tickets?"
Daphne lit up immediately and tugged on Brinley's arm. "Let's go. It sounds fun!"
"Vincent, come with us. You need to relax a little,"Brinley urged, watching him closely.
Andres added, "Yes, Mr. Jones. Don't worry about work. I'll handle everything."
Vincent gave a quiet nod. His mind was in chaos, and a distraction, any distraction, could help him think things through.
