Chapter 172
The moment Felix stepped in, Hannah was reminded of his previous confession of feelings, and the air between them grew subtly tense.
Felix, however, remained composed and casual as he entered the room.
Vincent's smile vanished the instant he laid eyes on Felix. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"The same thing you are, Mr. Jones," Felix replied coolly. He had flown over as soon as he'd made contact with Vincent. Turning his attention to Hannah, concern softened his features. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. There's no need to worry," Hannah responded gently.
The nurse, caught off guard by the unexpected
appearance of a second man, froze for a beat.
Hannah turned to the nurse and pointed at Vincent."Please take him back to his ward and redress his wound."
Snapping out of it, the nurse quickly nodded. "T'll take care of it now."
"There's no need. It doesn't hurt," Vincent said coldly. He clearly had no intention of leaving Hannah alone with Felix.
Hannah's expression shifted. She instructed, "Ignore his words. Just take him for the dressing."
An uncomfortable silence settled in the room.
Eventually, Vincent stood up, unwilling to argue over something so minor. Hannah's insistence, after all, only proved she cared about his injury. "I'll go," he said, shooting Felix a glance before walking out with the nurse.
Now alone, Hannah and Felix stood quietly for a moment.
"You..."
They spoke at the same time and paused.
Felix let out a small laugh. "You go first."
Hannah didn't hesitate. "I wanted to ask-does your ,phone have any record of a message sent to me?Someone used your phone to lure me to the Mist Bar that day."
Only then did Felix knowv about it. He immediately retrieved his phone and handed it over. The message history was empty.
Hannah let out a humorless chuckle. "Whoever it was must've wiped it."
Felix shared what he'd discovered at the guesthouse."I went back and found that whoever checked you out had cleared out all your belongings. It was like you'd vanished without a trace."
Hannah brought up the key point. "My passport is missing." Clearly, someone didn't want her to return home.
She asked, "Did you find out who checked me out?"
"I asked the front desk, but the receptionist couldn't remember. Said there were too many guests. But l got hold of security footage-the person was careful."
He handed her the phone. In the video, the figure wore a hat and kept their head down, avoiding every camera.
But Hannah recognized the figure instantly. It was Brinley. She connected the dots-Brinley bumping into her on purpose before she left, luring her to Mist Bar, and Paige's so-called "training." It had all been a trap to keep her from going home.
Hannah's face turned to stone.
At the Jones estate, Brinley and Danica sat comfortably, sipping coffee and nibbling on pastries.
Danica leaned in, eyes gleaming with curiosity. "You said Hannah's not coming back-what do you mean?Is she really gone for good?"
A smug smile played on Brinley's lips. "Of course.I've got a friend overseas who knows how to make someone disappear permanently."
Brinley had crossed paths with Paige by chance and kept her business card after learning she specialized in sourcing beautiful women for powerful local figures.
The thought of Hannah becoming someone's plaything thrilled Brinley to no end.
Just then, Brinley's phone rang. Seeing Paige's name, she assumed it was a call of gratitude now that the job was done. She stepped aside to answer,a hint of glee in her voice."Hey."
But Paige's tone was far from thankful. "Mist Bar got raided. Since you seem so interested in our work, why not invest and partner up? That rich guy you're cozy with should have money to burn..." Brinley's stomach dropped. She didn't want to hear another word. "What about the woman I handed over?"
"Oh, her? She escaped. Screwed up everything."
Brinley ended the call abruptly. "Useless trash," she muttered through clenched teeth.
Unbeknownst to her, just behind a nearby column, an elderly figure had overheard everything. With a stunned expression, the elderly figure turned quietly and walked away.
