Chapter 602
The crowd's attention shifted as Hannah stepped through the doorway, her movements deliberate, a small entourage trailing close behind.
Vincent froze mid-reach, his fingers hovering over the gun he'd been about to grab. He'd expected Nate storming in with the backup team-reinforcements.
But when the door creaked wider and Hannah's silhouette came into full view, a sharp frown cut across his face. A ripple of irritation coiled in his chest. Why Hannah, of all people? And what the hell did she think she was doing here? With only a handful of people around her, all looking completely ordinary, it seemed as though she'd walked straight into a death trap. Was she here to throw her life away? Utterly foolish.
In Vincent's eyes, women belonged far from danger-her sudden appearance now was nothing short of reckless interference.
Hudson blinked in surprise when he saw Hannah and then erupted into a mocking laugh. "Ha-ha, Hannah. What a touching sight-rushing here to die alongside your man. How romantic," he sneered, his voice dripping with malice. "Fine then, I'll grant your wish!"
With a sharp wave of his hand, he barked out the order, "Kill them!"
But his men stood motionless, ignoring his command as if they hadn't heard a word.
Rage flared in Hudson's eyes as he turned around and shouted, "Are you all deaf? I said kill them! Do you no longer care about the money I promised to pay you?"
Yet still, none of them lifted a finger. One by one, they slid their guns back into their holsters, stepped aside, and lowered their heads in silece.
Before Hudson could erupt again, a firm, authoritative voice rang out from behind Hannah. "Mr. Chadwick, are you disregarding even the President now?"
The words struck Hudson like thunder. His breath hitched as he whipped his head around-only to see his political adversary, Sullivan, entering the room alongside a composed, middle-aged man radiating power.
The middle-aged man was none other than Manas Fernandez-the president of Agosphia.
The President's presence explained why Hudson's men no longer obeyed him.
Cold sweat rolled down Hudson's temples as his voice faltered. "M-Mr. President... Sullivan... What brings you here?"
Hannah stepped forward, her expression calm yet unyielding. "I invited the President and Mr. Prescott."
When she'd received the emergency signal from the bodyguard, she hadn't wasted time rushing to the boutique. Instead, she'd told Nate to drive straight to Sullivan's residence.
The meeting had been tense-Sullivan, wary of a stranger showing up in the dead of night, had been openly skeptical.
But Hannah hadn't minced words. She'd laid her cards on the table right away: she wanted to join forces with him to bring down his rival, Hudson.
She'd discreetly revealed to Sullivan that the anonymous evidence exposing Hudson's collusion with Brixton had come from her. And in her possession, she held even more explosive proof-evidence so conclusive that it could bury Hudson completely.
The temptation of crushing a rival and gaining immense benefits had finally swayed Sullivan to her side.
Yet, Hannah had believed their plan lacked absolute certainty. Determined to seal every loophole, she pushed for a bolder move-urging Sullivan to leverage his influence and summon the President to the scene in person. Only the President's direct intervention could guarantee that nothing slipped through the cracks.
At the same time, Hannah had set a contingency plan in motion, reaching out through Sullivan's network and bringing in reporters from Agosphia's most reputable media outlets. So when she arrived just now, the people at her back weren't armed enforcers-they were reporters ready to expose the truth. Their mission was to use miniature cameras to stream the entire confrontation live to every household across Agosphia.
With a steady voice, Hannah faced the lens squarely and began her public exposé-laying bare Hudson's abuse of authority, his years of collusion with an underworld leader, and the illegal gambling ship, Odin, which he shielded while funneling clients to it and pocketing staggering profits.
"Hudson's corruption has dragged the name of the Agosphian government through the mud," HHannah declared with unwavering conviction."All of this is being broadcast live by these reporters. Every citizen in Agosphia is hearing the truth right now."
A sheen of cold sweat broke across Hudson's forehead. Panic twisted his features as he shouted hoarsely,"Lies! It's all lies!" Clinging to desperation, he turned to Manas. "Mr. President, don't trust her! She's working with Vincent-she made all this up just to save him! It's all lies!"
Hannah regarded his flailing protests with an unnerving calm. "If you're innocent, a quick audit of your accounts will show it-no unexplained transfers, no offshore deposits. And that gambling ship-who's its real owner now?" Her gaze sharpened. "Tell me, Hudson, do you think you can survive an investigation?"
Vincent's eyes lingered on Hannah's face, surprise flickering across his usually impassive expression. He'd underestimated her. Beneath the quiet composure, she clearly knew how to turn the game in her favor.
Before Hudson could recover, Manas stepped forward, his, voice hard as iron. "Hudson Chadwick," he demanded,"what do you have to say for yourself?"
