Chapter 138

Hannah and Felix spent a total of four days on Dace Island. Progress was steady as the factory received its upgrades, new equipment arrived, and the search for skilled workers continued.

What pleased them most was the enthusiastic support from the local residents-everyone seemned excited about the new job opportunities. Once training was complete, full-scale production was almost within reach.

On the morning of the fifth day, Hannah and Felix made their way back to Nova Tech.

Only a handful of days remained until the VitraMind bidding, so they wasted no time and started tackling the final details for their proposal.·

Returning to the office, they found themselves facing an unexpected issue. Evan, one of their programmers, had submitted his resignation.

Human Resources had been waiting for Hannah and Felix to come back before they could move forward with Evan's exit process.

Evan had been a core technical team member and had fought alongside them for several months.

Hannah wished things were different, but Evan's family needed him, and his mind was made up. She respected his decision, asking HR to ensure he left with a generous severance. For someone who had given so much to the company, it was only right to be treated well.

During the past four days, V/incent had been trying to get in touch with Hannah, calling her again and again, and sending message after message. She'd never answered, choosing instead to block his number.

Later that sameafternoon, as Hannah focused on the proposal in her office, Sharon's name appeared on her phone.

She figured Sharon must have found out about the divorce and was calling to talk. After hesitating for a moment, she answered and greeted warmly, "Hi, Sharon."For a second, there was only silence, and then a familiar deep voice broke through."|t′Ssme."

Vincent's voice was unmistakable. Hannah's face hardened, and she didn't let him say another word before ending the call.

Disgust washed over her. Immediately, she called her attorney to check in on the status of her divorce. That was when she learned that Vincent had dodged every meeting her attorney tried to schedule, always making excuses about being "too busy." Yet, he had time to flood her phone with calls and texts? She was not convinced.

Her attorney presented several options. Hannah went with the most decisive one-she told her attorney to take legal action. She also forwarded a folder containing all the photos she had gathered of Vincent and Brinley being close as proof.

Then, her phone started ringing again. She picked up and snapped,′′Vncent, have you completely lost your mind?"

Inside a ward of the hospital, Sharon had set her phone to speaker. She shot a glance at Vincent before saying gently, "Hannah, it's me-Sharon."

Sharon's calm and steady tone made Hannah hesitate, her own voice softening."Oh,hi, Sharon."

Sharon sounded worried as she asked, "Are you and Vincent having some sort of argument?"

Hannah's reply was subdued. "No, we aren't fighting." Divorce was right around the corner, though.

Sharon let out a sigh and let her voice tremble just a bit. "If there's no fight, then why haven't you visited since I got sick and hospitalized? You even missed my last birthday. Did you stop caring about me?"

Shock hit Hannah like a wave."What? You're sick?" Her voice grew tense. "Where are you? What's the room number?"

She wasted no time, grabbing her bag and rushing out.

Felix spotted her sudden panic and quickly followed.′′What happened?"

Worry showed on Hannah's face. "I need to get to the hospital. Sharon's not well." Sharon had revealed that she'd been admitted for three days, which made Hannah's heart pound with anxiety.

Felix didn't hesitate. "Let me offer you a ride."

Hannah didn't want to trouble him. Since they returned, Felix hadn't had a proper rest. Still, he insisted,so she relented and let him take the wheel.

As soon as the call ended, Sharon faced Vincent with a serious look. "Tell me what's going on between you and Hannah."

Vincent dodged her eyes, giving the usual brush-off."It's nothing." He left it at that and then moved toward the exit. "I'Il go meet her at the entrance."

Standing just outside the hospital doors, Vincent kept glancing at his watch while he waited.

It didn't take long before a car rolled to a stop. Felix got out first, followed by Hannah from the passenger seat.
