Chapter 141

"Sharon, I stopped by to visit. Has the pain eased?"Brinley entered the room, a sack of fruits dangling from her fingers. Her steps paused when her eyes landed on Hannah, her expression shifting several times as she remembered the humiliation from the recent incident.

Because Hannah had caused the chaos and brought those reporters over to capture the moment, Brinley had burned through plenty of cash to erase every headline from the web. Still, the gossip surrounding her incarceration hadn't faded completely.

Hannah's presence soured Brinley's mood instantly."What are you doing here?" she asked, voice lined with hostility.

"I came to see Sharon. Is that a problem?" Hannah replied with an indifferent lift of her brow.

"Of course not." Brinley walked further in and set the fruit down beside the bed. Then, letting her irritation spill over, she added, "It's just that since you're no longer married to Vincent, it's honestly odd that you're at his grandmother's bedside."

Vincent's features tensed. "Brinley, shut up."

"I'm not wrong, though," she grumbled lowly.

"You're right." Hannah rose with a faint grin, smoothing out her attire. "Given the current situation, it's inappropriate for me to linger. I'Il take my leave." Anyway, she had no plan to stick around and witness the affectionate display between Vincent and Brinley.

Before Hannah could offer her farewvell to Sharon,Sharon placed a steadying hand on her shoulder and made her sit back down.

"Don't leave just yet," Sharon ordered with firmness. Then, she turned to Brinley, her voice sharp as ice."Care to tell me why you find it improper for my granddaughter-in-law to visit me?"

Brinley countered swiftly, "Sharon, Hannah and Vincent signed the papers. She's no longer your granddaughter-in-law."

"In my heart, she still is. She's the only one l accept-regardless of legal status." Sharon's voice held finality and weight.

The message rang loud, and Brinley's mouth twisted in silent protest. She couldn't resist a jab. "Vincent's going to get married again. When that happens, won't you embrace the new granddaughter-in-law?"

The only granddaughter-in-law? Brinley scoffed.Once Vincent married her, she'd love to see how Sharon handled that.

"Marriage is his concern," Sharon said without budging. "But I get to decide whether or not to acknowledge someone."

The jab landed squarely. Brinley's fists curled by her sides.

Not wanting to hear more nonsense from Brinlev. Hannah turned toward Sharon, her tone gentler."Sharon, I've got something to take care of. I should be heading out."

Sharon immediately tried to get up, clearly planning to walk Hannah out. "At least let me see you to the door-"

"No need," Hannah interrupted gently, guiding Sharon back to lean back. "Rest is what you need."

Sharon then looked toward Vincent. "I really can't move much. Vincent, go walk her out."

"There's really no point," Hannah replied firmly. "I've got someone outside already." She moved back a few steps, aiming for the exit. "I'll come by again soon."With that, she exited.

Sharon gave Vincent a pointed glance. "Well? What are you still standing there for? Go see her off already!"

Brinley, of course, had no intention of letting the two of them be alone. She quickly chimed in, "I'll handle it."

"Sit down and stay put." Sharon pressed Brinley into the chair and turned to Vincent again. "Go on."

Vincent looked hesitant but eventually shuffled forward, muttering, "She said she already has someone waiting for her. Why should I go and make a fool of myself?"

Sharon read him like a book, knowing that he clearly wanted to see Hannah off. Still, she didn't expose him.

Brinley, unable to stay still, stood up a minute later under the pretense of getting some water and slipped out behind him.

When Vincent got outside, he caught sight of Hannah several paces ahead, walking with purpose. He closed the distance quickly and stood in her path."Why so eager to leave?"

Hannah's expression was composed but distant."You came out to bring up the divorce again, right?"

Vincent's brow creased. "Is that seriously all that's on your mind-ending our marriage?"

"What else should it be?" She looked at her wristwatch. The hands hit three o'clock exactly."We've still got time. We could head to the courthouse right now and avoid a legal méss."

"You took it to court?" Vincent's frown deepened further.

"Yes." Hannah folded her arms, tone drained of emotion. "Since my attorney couldn't get through to you, I had no option but to sue. You can come with me to the courthouse to finalize the divorce now, and I'll drop the suit."

"You're impossible," Vincent snapped, his jaw tight."Then let the court handle it." She was so ruthless.

"Alright. Then you can expect my divorce petition."Done talking, Hannah turned on her heel and headed for the hospital parking lot.

"Hannah." Waiting at the foot of the stairs, Felix

waved gently.

Vincent instinctively reached out to stop her, but she dodged his hand effortlessly.

Without so much as a glance backward, Hannah walked right past Vincent and toward Felix.

As Hannah and Felix walked, their striking presence drew several stares from nearby onlookers.

Vincent's hands tightened into fists at his sides.
