Chapter 156
Hannah introduced version 3.0 of the hormnone-monitoring wristband, guiding everyone through a quick live demonstration of its current features. She pointed out the possibility of adding artificial intelligence, making it easier for the audience to see just how useful the device could become.
Once she wrapped up her explanation, Miles asked,"Can you promise the hormone monitoring feature in your wristband is truly accurate?"
Remaining poised, Hannah replied with steady confidence, "We have put the wristband through several rounds of testing with different groups. Each phase has brought the precision of our hormone tracking to a much higher level."
Other judges soon followed with more questions,Hannah handled each one with remark composure and expertise. At the start, Miles had written Hannah off as just another pretty face. After hearing her speak, his view shifted completely. He hadn't expected such a smooth and persuasive performance, and his impression of her changed right on the spot.
"No further questions," remarked the panel of judges, bringing Hannah's presentation to its official close.
A wave of applause washed over the room. Cheers and clapping echoed as people showed their support.
With her part finished, Hannah finally allowed herself to relax, and relief shone through her features.Hearing the crowd's applause, she knew all her hard work had finally paid off. For five years, people had expected her to fit quietly into the mold of a housewife. Looking back now, she saw just how much of herself had been wasted during those years.
Standing here, she finally felt like she was living the life she was always meant for. A sense of satisfaction welled up inside her that she had never experienced before.
Felix, standing just below the stage and watching her, couldn't help but smile to himself as his heart raced a little faster. This was the real Hannah-bold,bright, and impossible to ignore.
Meanwhile, Brinley's anger was impossible to miss. She couldn't stand to hear even one more word of praise for Hannah. Her hand shot out, grabbing Vincent's arm as she tried to lead him away. It didn't escape her notice, though, that his eyes were locked on Hannah up at the front.
That only added fuel to Brinley's fury. Her glare cut straight through Hannah, her expression hard and bitter. With her voice as steady as she could manage, she said, "Vincent, let's leave."
Derek can take you home. I have something else l need to handle," Vincent said before walking out of the hall.
A short while after the last presentation finished, the organizer stepped forward, waited five minutes, and took hold of the microphone to announce the outcome.
A hush swept through the hall.
"Everyone, I am excited to share that today's top prize, chosen unanimously, goes to Nova Tech for their Hormone Monitoring WNristband!"
The crowd broke into applause once again.
If looks could hurt, Brinley's glare would have burned right through Hannah. She felt robbed of her own chance at glory, watching as Hannah claimed what she thought was meant for her.
Trembling from head to toe, Brinley's features twisted with rage.
Overflowing with happiness, Hannah clung to Felix's hand, unable to find words for the joy in her heart.
As people crowded around to offer congratulations,Hannah and Felix thanked every single person who came up to them. At last, Nova Tech had finally stepped into the public eye. A representative from VitraMind rushed over and asked if someone from their team could come and sign the contract.
Felix reached out and gently pulled Hannah by the arm. "You handle this part. I'll finish things up over here."
She nodded once. "Alright. I'll come find you when I'm done."
Without delay, Hannah walked after the representative and headed straight for Miles's office.Inside, she was surprised to see someone else present. The moment she caught sight of Vincent, the brightness in her face faded away.
Right away, Vincent noticed the shift in her mood.He scowled. "Are you really that upset to see me?"
Hannah didn't answer him at all. Instead, she turned toward Miles and spoke politely. "I didn't realize you had company. I can come back later to sign the contract." She was just about to leave when Miles stopped her."There's no need for that. Mr. Jones isn't an outsider.Let's go ahead and sign everything right now."
Standing still, Hannah kept her voice calm and remarked, "Mr. Whitaker, perhaps you don't realize-one of Mr. Jones's subsidiaries, Polaris Tech, is actually one of my competitors."
Vincent's frown deepened. "The Jones Group is huge. Why would we waste time on a small business like yours?"
Her reply came sharp and clear."Well, who knows? You're certainly capable-nothing's off the table with you."
With that, Vincent picked up on her meaning right away-she was calling him out for putting pressure on Nova Tech. A flare of annoyance shot through him. "If you had just told me that you were the co-founder of Nova Tech, do you think I'd have gone after it? I had no idea. You kept it all from me."
Back then, he had only pressured Felix's company in hopes of making Hannah give up on the divorce. He had no clue she and Felix were partners in business.
Hannah felt like rolling her eyes. The way Vincent spoke made it sound as if knowing the truth would have changed his actions, as if he wouldn't have targeted Nova Tech. She remembered exactly how things happened-he went after Nova Tech for Brinley's sake. Bitterness colored her thoughts.Selective memory.
"Well, it's a good thing I kept it to myself. If you hadn't pushed us so hard, Nova Tech wouldn't have grown as quickly as it did," Hannah said, her voice thick with sarcasm.
Vincent could feel the sting in her words, and he struggled to come up with a comeback.
Miles's eyes moved from Vincent to Hannah, and he lifted an eyebrow with interest. "So, you two... You were together before? Boyfriend and girlfriend?"
"He's my ex-husband." "She's my ex-wife." Their voices overlapped.
