Chapter 204
Vincent kept his faceblank while he aimed the gun at his own right leg and pulled the trigger.
The blast drove him down to one knee, and the pain carved deep lines into his forehead as his veins stood out.
Hannah fought desperately, trying to break free from the bodyguards who held her in place.
Hoffman sneered, "I see you mean business, Mr. Jones."
The gun was pried from Vincent's hand by the bodyguards without delay.
Driven by resolve alone, Vincent rose to his feet and reached out a steady hand toward Hoffman."L Hannah go," he said.
"Don't rush. Sign the contract first." Hoffman's eyes glimmered with satisfaction as he motioned for his men to bring the contract over from the table.
Holding the contract up, Hoffman flashed Vincent a sly grin. "Once you sign, she can leave."
Vincent stared at the contract pushed toward him, and after a pause of three seconds, he finally wrote his name.
Looking pleased, Hoffman said, "Mr. Jones, I admire your quick decisions."
One of Hoffman's men grabbed the contract and stood by his side.
As Vincent was about to demand the release, a thunderous blast rattled the doors, sending shockwaves through the lobby and injuring several bodyguards.
Hoffman stood frozen for a moment, confused, just before Vincent sent the table flying and kicked Hoffman hard with his good leg, knocking Hoffman off his feet.
Immediately, Hoffman's bodyguards turned their guns on Vincent. The chaos gave Hannah an opening. She yanked a gun from the nearest guard's belt and spun around, firing at the bodyguard behind Vincent. He dropped with a heavy thud.
Her hand was steady and her eyes never wavered, the shot landing right where she aimed.
Vincent saw a whole new side of Hannah then, and for a moment, his expression changed with a tangle of feelings. He wasted no time in dragging Hannah behind a nearby column for cover.
The bodyguards kept storming in, but they fell one after another, picked off by a sniper from outside.
Hoffman struggled to his feet, looking both angry and shaken. "Vincent, you set me up!"
Gunfire exploded throughout the hotel lobby.
Acting fast, Vincent pressed the tracker on his wristband, trigggering the hotel's alarm system as expected. He fastened the wristband on Hannah's wrist with a look of resolve and leaned in to whisper, "The tracker's active. Miles and Felix are almost here to fetch you. I'll watch your back."
As Hannah listened, she ripped a strip from her dress and used it to wrap Vincent's bleeding thigh. Hearing his instructions, she paused, concern flickering across her face. "You're not leaving with me?"
Steadfast in his decision, Vincent shook his head. "You go first."
Holding onto his hand,Hannah remarked, "This isn't going to be easy. Hoffman's men are out there, and the snipers are around. We should leave together."
Since Vincent's whole purpose had been to save her, she couldn't bear the thought of him risking his life for her sake.
Once more, Hannah refused to budge."We have to go at the same time."
Suddenly,hurried footsteps echoed nearby.
Vincent leaned against the column, slowly straightening up."T一here's no time left." He scanned the lobby quickly, keeping a firm grip on Hannah's wrist.
After spotting a clear escape route, he pointed it out. "Head that way. I'll distract Hoffman." The two agents Vincent had stationed earlier made their way over. Pushing Hannah toward them, Vincent said, "Get her out of here."
"We're on it."
With the wristband clutched in her hand, Hannah understood she couldn't change Vincent's mind, so she decided to go find reinforcements. She trusted that Miles and Felix would never arrive empty-handed. They would definitely have extra help.
Without another word, Hannah hurried after the two agents.
A bodyguard handed Vincent a gun, and he used it to create an opening for Hannah and her protectors. His movements exposed him, and most of the gunfire was now directed his way.
Hoffman spotted Hannah making her escape and shouted, "Don't let her get away!"
At once, the bodyguards shifted their focus and aimed at Hannah.
Vincent took down each of them with quick, precise shots, making sure they couldn't get close to her. His gaze locked on Hoffman, and he sneered, "You won't have another chance."
