Chapter 310

Hannah withdrew her hand, and Vincent's body shivered under the aftereffect of her grip, the sensation surging through him like an electric current. Gradually, the sharp sting began to fade, the overwhelming ache retreating bit by bit.

Yet, something unusual stirred inside him. Surprisingly, Hannah's act hadn't offended him in the least. If he could ignore the pain, he would have welcomed her nearness without hesitation. In fact, a strange sense of longing clung to her presence-almost like an addiction he couldn't shake.

Hannah calmly dusted off her clothes, collected her handbag, and headed toward the door.

Vincent's voice broke the silence. "Wait."

She stopped in place but didn't turn around. "What? Wasn't the pain just now enough for you?"

Struggling, Vincent reached for the document resting on the dining cart beside him-the "Remarriage Agreement." Remarriage was the central purpose of today's encounter. He couldn't let her leave without addressing the main issue.

With the seriousness of closing a major business deal, he extended the document toward her. "Take alook and give me your answer. You can name your conditions."

His tone was sharp and commanding, the same voice he used when sealing corporate contracts.

Hannah whipped around. She didn't take the document, but her eyes landed squarely on the bold title:"Remarriage Agreement." Then, her gaze lifted to meet Vincent's. "Vincent, even now, this is what you're focused on?"

Vincent avoided her eyes and extended the document once again, his motions quickening as he tried to appeal to reason. "The,clauses inside benefit you."

He added, almost absurdly, "You'll have your share of assets, your own accounts, and complete freedom to live where you like. My lawyer already reviewed everything. If you walk away now, you're missing-" "Don't want to review the agreement. No remarriage. Goodbye." Hannah cut him off mid-sentence, her voice firm, her decision absolute.

Without another word, she pivoted, pressed down the door handle and walked out without looking back.

The hall, now hollow and still, was left with only Vincent standing in its silence.

Hannah returned to Nova Tech. As soon as she settled into her office, her phone rang. It was Gavin.

Figuring the officers might have found the person responsible for Alice's allergic reaction, she answered the call, and Gavin's voice came through, grave and measured. "We had to release Daphne earlier due to a lack of solid evidence. But just today, she turned herself in-on one condition. She insists on speaking with you alone. She's extremely agitated and claims she has something urgent to tell you face-to-face."

Hannah's expression chilled. Daphne turned herself in? And now she suddenly wanted a meeting?

"Officer Mercer, I don't see the point of having a private conversation with someone so biased against me."Her voice was calm, detached.

Gavin's tone grew heavier. "Ms. Scott, she claims to possess critical evidence. For the sake of the investigation, we're hoping you'll agree. We'll arrange a private meeting room."

"New evidence?" Hannah's fingers drifted over the icy surface of her desk, unconsciously tracing its edge.

She paused for a couple of seconds and then spoke with cold resolve. "No need for a private room. Let her come to my office.Have two officers stationed outside to record and film the entire exchange."

Gavin's surprise crackled through the line. "That goes against protocol."

"Protocol?" Hannah's lips curved into a frosty smile. "Officer Mercer, this meeting was your suggestion. If it's against protocol, then please refuse her request."

She tossed the decision squarely back to him.

A brief silence followed before Gavin replied,"Ten minutes. We'll handle the setup."

Ten minutes later, outside Nova Tech's executive office, the tension hung heavy in the air.

The door opened. Two officers escorted Daphne inside. They brought her to the guest seating area in the center of the office.

Hannah remained seated behind her expansive desk, scrutinizing Daphne. She broke the silence."I hear you've got something you can only say to me in person?"

Daphne didn't go straight to the point. Instead, her voice took a cryptic tone. "Hannah, did you know? Jail gets unbearably cold-especially at night."

Hannah leaned back slightly, her fingers loosely interlaced. "Oh? Then you should enjoy your freedom while it lasts."

Daphne's abrupt confession was suspicious, and Hannah intended to rattle her.

A wild gleam flickered in Daphne's eyes. She suddenly straightened, shedding the fragile facade she had worn like armor. A crooked smile broke across her face, and she delivered her next words with icy precision."Hannah, are you afraid of prison?"

The room fell still, the air thick with unease.

Hannah's brows drew together in the faintest frown."What?"

Daphne saw the slight change and smiled wider, her expression unraveling with madness. She raised her voice sharply, shouting toward the door, "Officer! I want to report something! I was wrong. I shouldn't have taken the fall for someone else. It was Hannah! She's the mastermind behind everything. Alice's allergy-Hannah planned it from the start."
