Chapter 131
"Miss!"
Housekeeper Zhou's face paled as he rushed to Evelyn's side. She was curled up on the bench, her slender fingers clutching her chest, her complexion ghostly white.
"Dr. Sullivan! Now!" Housekeeper Zhou barked.
Ethan's smug expression froze. He stumbled forward, fumbling for his stethoscope.
"Asthma attack..." His voice shook. "That kid was right."
Gasps rippled through the crowd.
Nurses scrambled for emergency equipment. But Evelyn's breathing grew more labored, her chest heaving violently, her lips tinged blue.
"Useless!" Housekeeper Zhou kicked Ethan aside. "Ambulance! Call an ambulance!"
"Too late!" someone shouted. "Find that young man from earlier!"
Ethan's face darkened. "What does he know—"
"Get out!" Housekeeper Zhou slapped him hard before bolting through the crowd.
Three hundred meters away, Lucian was studying a map when strong arms suddenly wrapped around his legs from behind.
"Please save my mistress!" Housekeeper Zhou knelt, forehead pressed to the pavement. "She's having an asthma attack!"
Lucian's pupils contracted. He shoved the man aside and sprinted back.
From a vantage point, a pair of sharp eyes glinted faintly.
"Clear the area! Keep it ventilated!"
Lucian returned, silver needles already between his fingers. Evelyn's face was now purple, her consciousness fading.
The needles fell like rain. The Three Talents Acupuncture technique gleamed coldly under the sun. Lucian pressed his palm to her chest, channeling energy into her.
"Cough—"
Evelyn arched violently, vomiting stomach contents. Lucian swiftly cleared her airway and removed the needles one by one.
As the last needle withdrew, her breathing finally steadied.
"She's stable for now." Lucian wiped his brow. "But she needs rest."
Housekeeper Zhou nodded frantically, his back drenched in sweat.
"I'm Evelyn Laurent." The girl weakly grasped Lucian's sleeve. "Tell me your name."
Her fingers were cold and soft, like willow leaves in early spring.
"Unnecessary." Lucian pulled away and walked off.
"Wait!" Evelyn tried to follow but collapsed from weakness.
Housekeeper Zhou caught her. "Don't worry, Miss. I'll find him."
Evelyn watched Lucian's retreating figure, a strange light flickering in her eyes. "Interesting..."
Lucian quickened his pace toward Blackthorn Lair. The setting sun stretched his shadow long behind him.
"Maintenance shutdown?"
He narrowed his eyes at the sealed entrance. Swiping his keycard, the lock clicked open—
"Beep—"
Every hair on his body stood erect. He dove to the ground.
"BOOM!"
The deafening explosion engulfed Blackthorn Lair in flames.
