Chapter 482

Beatrice Quincy's voice feigned composure on the phone. Evelyn Laurent's lips curled into a cold smile.

She ended the call decisively. Her stilettos clicked sharply against the marble floor.

The receptionist trailed behind her nervously, eagerly pressing the elevator button.

In the penthouse office, Beatrice shot up from her leather chair.

Her fists clenched. Nails dug deep into her palms.

"Why is Evelyn Laurent coming to see me all of a sudden?"

She paced back and forth. A sheen of sweat formed on her forehead.

The elevator dinged as it reached the top floor.

When that familiar figure appeared at the end of the hallway, Beatrice's heart nearly leaped out of her chest.

"Evelyn Laurent, what do you want?"

She forced a commanding tone, but her voice trembled uncontrollably.

Evelyn didn't bother with pleasantries. She cut straight to the chase. "Where is Xander Quincy?"

"My brother?" Beatrice's pupils constricted. "He's at home, of course. He never gets involved with company matters—"

Before she could finish, Evelyn's sharp gaze pierced through her.

Those eyes were like daggers. Beatrice's back instantly soaked with sweat.

"It's... it's true," she stammered. "He's been recuperating at home since returning from abroad..."

Evelyn suddenly let out a soft laugh.

The sound sent chills down Beatrice's spine.

"Then let me ask you this." Evelyn adjusted her gloves leisurely. "Where is Ethan Sullivan?"

"Ethan Sullivan?" Beatrice looked genuinely confused. "What does he have to do with our family?"

A sudden realization struck her. Her eyes flashed with malicious glee.

Had something happened to Ethan Sullivan?

The thought nearly made her laugh out loud.

She hoped he'd disappear forever!

Before she could hide the venom in her eyes, she met Evelyn's mocking gaze.

"Beatrice." Evelyn's voice was soft. "You're so pitifully stupid."

She took a step forward.

Beatrice scrambled backward until her waist hit the desk.

"Stay back!" She grabbed a letter opener from the desk. "There are cameras here! Security will be here any second!"

Evelyn ignored her, continuing her advance.

With each step, Beatrice trembled harder.

"One last time." Evelyn's voice was ice-cold. "Where are Xander Quincy and Ethan Sullivan?"

The letter opener clattered to the floor.

Beatrice's legs gave out. She slid down the desk, collapsing onto the ground.

"I... I really don't know..."
