Chapter 472

Beatrice Quincy's shoulders finally relaxed when Xander Quincy gave in.

She was startled to realize how suffocating her rebellious second brother had become.

Who did he think he was?

Just wait until they faced their parents. She'd see how long he could keep up this act.

Beatrice watched his retreating figure with a mocking smirk.

Three years away from home for some irrelevant woman. Pathetic.

Outside the airport, Ethan Sullivan had been waiting for a while.

The black sedan glided smoothly toward Isabella Valentine's lab.

This state-of-the-art research facility, funded by the Valentines, had become one of the city's landmarks.

"What awful luck," Isabella grumbled as she got into the car. "Running into the Quincys."

Rachel Clemenson lowered her lashes, shadows flickering beneath her eyes.

"Aren't the Quincys practically bankrupt now?" Isabella tilted her head. "Calling Xander back at this point...could it be—"

Ethan's fingers tapped the steering wheel, his gaze icy. "Just using scraps."

Evelyn Laurent scoffed. "Trying to play the emotional card? Dream on."

She knew Reginald Quincy and his wife too well—treating their children like pawns.

"Disgusting," Isabella rolled her eyes.

Rachel suddenly let out a cold laugh. "To them, everyone except Beatrice is disposable."

Her nails dug into her palms. "Even Xander isn't an exception."

Her voice dropped.

"...Let alone..."

That boy who'd been rejected by his parents because of her.

Sunlight glinted off the lab's glass walls. Evelyn checked the time. "I need to head to the office. See you tonight at the usual spot."

Isabella winked. "Order my favorite lobster."

As the car door closed, Rachel watched the shrinking figure in the rearview mirror, dark emotions swirling in her eyes.
