Chapter 360
Bianca Fairchild's origin was the Quincy family's most shameful secret.
She was never a true Quincy by blood.
The family had adopted her solely as a luck shield for Beatrice Quincy.
In the Quincy household, she wasn't even treated as human.
Xander Quincy had once fought for her.
That battle ended in devastating defeat.
His efforts only made Bianca avoid him like the plague.
"I can overlook Evelyn Laurent's interference," Beatrice bit her lip, eyes glinting with frost, "But how dare that Bianca waltz around like she owns the place? She's just a disposable luck charm!"
"Beatrice!"
Xander's voice cracked like a whip.
His knuckles whitened, jaw clenched tight. "Is this how the Quincys raised you? To spew such filth?"
Beatrice froze.
Her brother had never used that tone with her before.
What shocked her more was his fury being directed at Bianca's defense.
"Have you lost your mind?" Her voice turned shrill. "Don't tell me you're still obsessed with that trash! What spell did she cast on you?"
Xander silently thanked his foresight in dismissing the staff.
These words could ruin the Quincy name if overheard.
"Enough, Beatrice."
Exhaustion lined his features. "I warned you Julian Langley isn't interested. Why keep throwing yourself at the Langley family?"
"Only Julian deserves me!" She jutted her chin. "We're both Oscar winners. A perfect match!"
Her lips curled into a sneer. "Unlike some with trashy taste, pining after a worthless stand-in."
"Did our parents' lessons mean nothing?" Her whisper carried venom. "Imagine the scandal if they knew you still—"
"Beatrice!"
Xander's chest heaved, nails biting into his palms.
The sister he'd coddled since childhood now gazed at him with such contempt.
"Mother and Father were clear," she sang sweetly. "Anyone but that trash. Unless you want the Quincys to become a laughingstock?"
Each syllable pierced like an icicle.
He stood paralyzed, blood turning to sludge.
Suddenly Beatrice beamed, looping her arm through his. "But don't worry, dear brother. I'm your favorite, aren't I?"
Her sugary tone dripped poison. "You'd never truly fall for such filth... right?"
