Chapter 41

Evelyn's accusation struck Vincent like a dagger to his weakest spot.

Vincent's face darkened instantly, his eyes flashing with malice.

Before he could speak, the three boys beside Sophia erupted. "Call the police then! We're not afraid!"

Sophia trembled at the mention of police. "No! You can't!" she shrieked, unaware of how shrill her voice sounded.

"You worked so hard for this!"

"She didn't even take the exams. Why should she get it?"

The three boys protested immediately.

Sophia gave a strained smile. "It's fine... I can try again next year..."

Evelyn watched the farce coldly.

Then she reached out and grabbed the folder. "Sure."

Sophia froze.

She instinctively tried to pull back, but Evelyn's grip was ironclad.

"Didn't you say you'd give it to me?" Evelyn smirked mockingly. "Having second thoughts?"
