Chapter 136

Beatrice Quincy scanned the room before spotting Bianca Fairchild in the corner.

Her lips curved into a radiant smile as she dragged Xander Quincy toward her.

"Bianca!"

The bright call made Bianca's head snap up.

Recognizing them, she scrambled to her feet, fingers nervously twisting her skirt.

"Sister... Brother..."

Her voice was barely audible before she lowered her lashes.

Beatrice linked arms with her affectionately. "Still so shy?"

Her nails dug imperceptibly into Bianca's inner arm.

"I... I'm not used to these events..."

Bianca paled but forced a smile.

Beatrice tapped her forehead playfully. "You must learn to be more poised."

Her sweet smile belied the unrelenting pressure of her grip.

Xander observed coldly without comment.

Evelyn Laurent swirled her juice glass, taking in the entire scene.

She took a sip before looking away.

"You must be the seventh Laurent daughter?"

Beatrice suddenly appeared before her, extending a manicured hand.

"Beatrice Quincy."

Evelyn gave her hand a perfunctory shake.

"May I call you Evie?"

Beatrice batted innocent lashes.

"Whatever."

Evelyn took half a step back to create distance.

"Didn't your brothers come?"

Beatrice pretended to glance around casually.

"No idea."

"But they're your brothers, aren't they?"

Beatrice feigned confusion.

"Should I leash them?"

Evelyn turned on her heel and sat beside Ethan Sullivan.

Amusement flickered in Ethan's eyes as he subtly leaned closer.

"Is the wine any good?"

Evelyn studied the cocktail glass on the coffee table.
