Chapter 230
Ethan Sullivan chuckled softly. "This doesn't count as a gift."
His gaze lingered on Evelyn Laurent, warmth hidden in his eyes. "I've prepared a special surprise. You'll love it."
"Oh?" Evelyn arched an eyebrow.
She was curious to see where Ethan got such confidence.
Even she didn't know what she'd particularly like.
Ethan winked mysteriously. "The timing's perfect. Let me take you there."
"Alright."
Evelyn agreed readily.
Ethan instructed the mall to deliver their shopping bags to Beverly Hills. Then he personally drove her toward the outskirts.
The scenery outside the window blurred past.
The setting sun painted the clouds in gold and crimson, casting a warm glow over the city.
Evelyn leaned back in her seat, her eyes unconsciously drifting to Ethan's profile.
Over their time together, he had treated her exceptionally well.
As attentively as her brothers.
Perhaps they could remain friends after the engagement was called off.
Ethan had no idea of her thoughts.
If he knew she only saw him as a future friend, he'd be both amused and exasperated.
At least she was willing to consider him a friend.
The car stopped in front of a massive venue.
"Where is this?"
Evelyn stepped out, surveying the surroundings.
The building had a unique design, resembling a sports arena.
"The surprise is inside."
Ethan smiled and reached for her hand.
Evelyn deftly avoided it.
Though inexperienced in romance, she understood boundaries.
Unfazed, Ethan pulled out a blindfold. "Since it's a surprise, why not let me guide you in?"
His voice was so tender it could melt ice.
Evelyn studied him, her curiosity piqued.
After a brief hesitation, she gave a slight nod.
Ethan moved behind her, his fingers brushing her hair as he carefully tied the blindfold.
"Walk slowly."
He took her hand.
The sudden darkness made Evelyn's heart skip.
Her fingers instinctively tightened around his.
"Don't worry. I'm here."
Ethan's voice was close, soothing against her ear.
For some reason, it made her feel safe.
