Chapter 368

Ethan Sullivan suddenly stopped walking, his face turning unusually grim.

"What's wrong?" Evelyn Laurent turned to look at him.

"The rabbit..." Ethan hesitated, his brows furrowed.

Evelyn was puzzled. "What about it?"

"It..." He took a deep breath. "Pee'd."

For a moment, Evelyn didn't react. "So what if it pee'd—"

Mid-sentence, realization struck. Her eyes widened as she stared at Ethan. "Don't tell me it got on you?"

Ethan gave a stiff nod, his expression ashen.

Evelyn rushed back and took the misbehaving bunny from him. She grabbed a handful of wild grass. "Here, wipe yourself first."

Ethan took the grass and hastily scrubbed at the damp spot on his trousers. His face was pinched, as if he might cry.

"Just bear with it." Evelyn deftly tied the rabbit with a rope. "Hold it like this. It won't pee on you again."

Ethan took the other end of the rope and finally relaxed.

Seeing the usually elegant and dignified CEO in such a disheveled state, Evelyn couldn't help but laugh.

She remembered the first time she'd met Ethan.

It had been raining that night, his luxury car stuck in the mud. Even then, he'd carried himself like a prince.

And now...

The scent of rabbit urine drifted on the breeze, making Evelyn laugh harder.

"Are you laughing at me, Evie?" Ethan suddenly asked, his voice small and wounded.

He kept his head down, mumbling, "Do you... dislike me now?"

The unexpected pout caught Evelyn off guard.

"No!" she denied quickly—only to meet Ethan's mischievous gaze.

He'd been faking it!

Evelyn stomped her foot in frustration. "Ethan Sullivan!"

"Here." He answered with a smile, his eyes full of affection.

Sunlight filtered through the leaves, dappling them both. Even the smell of rabbit pee didn't seem so bad anymore.
