Chapter 89

Ethan Sullivan watched Evelyn Laurent walk away, his knuckles turning white from gripping too hard.

He took a deep breath but ultimately didn't chase after her.

After what she had witnessed today, she must have misunderstood everything.

Sophia Lowell's half-hearted explanation had only poured fuel on the fire.

A cold glint flashed in Ethan's eyes.

A black Maybach was parked at the school gate.

Evelyn checked the license plate before getting in, completely unaware of the icy gaze watching her from behind a tree.

Sophia stared at the retreating car, a smirk curling her lips.

She scrolled through the photos on her phone, her eyes dark with malice.

"Who would've thought, Evelyn? Even a balding old man is fair game for you."

The middle-aged man in the driver's seat stood out starkly in the photos.

Sophia pocketed her phone and turned away.

She would save these photos for the perfect moment.

Not long after the Maybach drove off, Ethan's car followed.

The two vehicles headed toward Beverly Hills one after the other.

The Langley family mansion was brightly lit.

Victoria Langley bustled around the kitchen in an apron, while Richard Langley had surprisingly left work early to help.

Their three sons were also assisting.

"Theodore!" Victoria brandished a spatula and smacked it against his head. "You're crushing the vegetables! What's the point of having you here?"

Theodore dodged with a yelp. "Mom, I'm sorry!"

Richard gave him a dry look. "He can't even tell chives from green onions. You know that."

"Useless." Victoria waved him off dismissively. "Just throw him away."

Theodore was about to protest when his eyes lit up. "Evelyn!"

He dashed over and wrapped his arms around her the moment she stepped inside, nuzzling her like an overgrown puppy. "Did you miss your sixth brother?"

Evelyn laughed and patted his back. "Theodore."

Sebastian approached, holding out a velvet box. "See if you like it."

Inside was a pink diamond bracelet, shimmering under the light.

"Thank you, Sebastian." Her eyes curved into crescents.

Julian reached out and ruffled her hair. "You've gained a little weight. Feels even better now."

His peach-blossom eyes narrowed with satisfaction, like a contented cat.
