Chapter 229
A mocking laugh suddenly echoed from the second-floor staircase.
Sophia Lowell jerked her head up. Nigel Winthrop's expression darkened instantly.
Isabella Valentine leaned against the railing, crimson lips curling. "What a perfect match."
Her fingers tapped lightly on the handrail, eyes brimming with derision.
Lydia Montgomery immediately jumped in. "What do you mean by that, Isabella?"
"Exactly what I said." Isabella idly adjusted her wristwatch. "A narcissist and a Green Tea Bitch. Made for each other."
Nigel clenched his fists but remained silent.
He knew better than anyone the power of the Valentine family.
"Let's go." Sophia murmured softly, her fingertips grazing Nigel's palm.
Nigel's thoughts instantly scattered.
A waiter approached with a food cart bearing black truffle steak on crystal plates.
"Wow!" Lydia gasped theatrically. "How much does this cost?"
Sophia elegantly picked up her cutlery. "Help yourselves, everyone."
Meanwhile, in the mall's VIP lounge...
Ethan Sullivan handed his black card to the sales associate. "Wrap everything."
Evelyn Laurent nibbled her lollipop. "This is too much."
"Not at all." Ethan ruffled her hair. "Compared to what your brothers gave you, this is nothing."
Evelyn suddenly leaned closer. "So...what's my real birthday present?"
Ethan flashed a mysterious smile. "Come with me."
The elevator ascended to the rooftop helipad.
A pink helicopter glittered under the sunlight.
"Like it?" Ethan embraced her from behind. "No more crowded subways for school."
Evelyn turned and poked his chest. "Such a spendthrift."
Ethan caught her finger. "Only for you."
