Chapter 375

Hugo Rothschild's gaze was as sharp as a blade, clashing with Ethan Sullivan's across the distance.

Sparks seemed to fly in the air.

Neither man was willing to back down.

Julian Langley immediately sensed the tension, his icy glare fixed on Hugo. "How dare you kidnap my Evelyn?"

His voice dripped with frost.

"If you want rabbit meat, catch it yourself." Julian shielded Evelyn Laurent with his body. "Don't expect her to serve you."

Rachel Clemenson stood nearby, her nails digging into her palms.

Why?

Why did Evelyn get protection from two men?

She stared at Evelyn's delicate face, resentment flashing in her eyes.

That bitch must have seduced Ethan and Julian with her looks.

What infuriated her even more was that Hugo's attention remained fixed on Evelyn.

This man, always cold and distant, showed interest only in her.

"Let's go," Rachel forced out through gritted teeth, her voice laced with feigned hurt. "We're clearly not welcome here."

She deliberately let out a bitter laugh. "We don't belong in their world."

Before leaving, Hugo cast one last lingering look at Evelyn.

But she didn’t even glance his way.

Beatrice Quincy eyed the golden-brown rabbit meat roasting over the fire, swallowing hard.

"Brother," she tugged at Xander Quincy's sleeve. "I want some."

When Xander frowned, she added, "Can you trade with them?"

"No." His refusal was firm. "We’ll catch our own."

Liam Croix chimed in, "We set up traps. Should get something soon."

"Self-reliance is best," Lucas Croix agreed.

Beatrice bit her lip in frustration but had no choice but to follow them away.

In the firelight, Evelyn’s profile looked especially soft.

Ethan and Julian both turned to her at the same time, their gazes warm.
