Chapter 165

Madame Cooper looked down her nose at Evelyn Laurent, her red lips curling in disdain. "Do you know who I am? How dare you speak to me like that."

Evelyn's gaze was icy. "Get lost."

"Who do you think you are?"

"Tired of living, bitch?"

Several women rolled up their sleeves, their faces twisted with arrogance.

To them, Evelyn was just some nobody with no connections—otherwise, why would she associate with someone like Lillian Rothschild?

Evelyn didn’t even lift an eyelid.

In the next moment, black-clad security guards emerged from the shadows, forming a protective circle around her.

"Make them disappear," Evelyn said softly. "Permanently."

The women paled. "You—"

Slap!

A sharp crack cut her off.

"Watch your mouth," the head guard growled. "This lady is under Mr. Sullivan’s protection."

Madame Cooper finally lost her composure. "I’m from the Cooper family—"

"The Coopers?" The guard scoffed. "You’re nothing compared to Mr. Sullivan."

Lillian stood frozen, her eyes reddening.

She hadn’t expected Evelyn to stand up for her.

"I just hate people who look down on others," Evelyn said coolly.

Lillian suddenly threw her arms around her. "Sister Evelyn! From now on, you’re my real sister!"

Her almond-shaped eyes shone with admiration, bright and intense.

Ethan Sullivan stepped out of the shadows. "Who was that woman earlier?"

"Madame Cooper of Cooper Realty Group," the head guard answered with a bow.

"Cooper Realty..." Ethan idly twisted the ring on his pinky. "Time for them to go bankrupt."

On their way back to campus, Lillian spilled everything like an overturned basket.

Turns out, she had once saved the young master of the Cooper family, only to be slandered as a gold-digging schemer.

"They’ve been chasing me like rabid dogs," Lillian huffed, gesturing wildly. "But now that I have Sister Evelyn, let’s see them try!"

Evelyn gave a quiet hum.

The setting sun stretched their shadows long across the ground.

"Sister Evelyn..." Lillian suddenly stopped walking, turning to face her with solemn eyes. "Thank you."

Evelyn ruffled her hair, a faint smile touching her lips.

This silly girl deserved kindness.
