Chapter 266

Ethan Sullivan's figure disappeared at the end of the hallway.

Alexander Langley stared at the closed elevator doors, his gaze icy cold.

He turned and slammed the front door shut with such force that the vase in the foyer trembled.

The air in the living room instantly turned heavy.

Evelyn Laurent sensed something was wrong. Her eyes darted between her family members.

Her eldest brother had clearly been making excuses to get rid of Ethan.

It was only six in the evening—what did he mean by "it's getting late"?

Suddenly, Sophia's words flashed through her mind, making her heart skip a beat.

Victoria Langley set down her teacup with a sharp clink.

"Evelyn," she said, her voice low. "What exactly is going on between you and Ethan?"

Alexander leaned back on the sofa, his long fingers tapping the armrest.

"The Sullivans have stubbornly refused to break off the engagement all these years. That's suspicious enough." His eyes narrowed. "If he's really got someone else in his heart—"

He didn't finish, but the implication was clear.

Before Evelyn could respond, Victoria sighed.

"I think Ethan does have feelings for someone."

All six brothers shot to their feet, their fists clenched tight.

"He wouldn't dare!" Julian Langley yanked at his tie. "I'll break his legs right now!"

Dominic already had the fruit knife from the coffee table in hand.

"Sit down, all of you!" Victoria smacked the table. "I meant Evelyn!"

The room fell silent.

"Haven't you noticed?" Victoria gave her sons an exasperated look. "All the gifts Ethan's been giving Evelyn lately are tailored to her tastes."

"Shooting range passes, concert tickets—even that limited-edition fountain pen last time."

The tips of Evelyn's ears turned pink.

Alexander scoffed. "That doesn't prove—"

"Prove what?" Victoria cut him off. "Your sister's eyes light up every time she mentions him. Are you blind?"

Evelyn abruptly covered her face with her hands.

The six brothers exchanged glances, their aggressive stance deflating instantly.
