Chapter 389
Rachel Clemenson's face was deathly pale.
Tears streaked her cheeks as she stumbled out of the tent.
Leo Clemenson followed close behind, losing a shoe in his haste.
The siblings fled in disarray. Rachel tripped over a tree root, slamming her knees against the ground.
She barely registered the pain as she scrambled up and kept running.
"Snake! Help!"
Her shrill scream pierced the night, jolting the entire campsite awake.
Crew members rushed over with tools in hand. Other guests peeked out from their tents.
Evelyn Laurent sat up languidly, a mocking glint in her eyes.
She adjusted her sleeping bag, making no move to rise.
Inside the tent, Timothy Gold froze, flashlight in hand.
A thumb-sized snake slithered lazily across the ground, flinching at the sudden light.
"Seriously?"
He picked up the trembling creature and stepped outside with a sigh.
Rachel's expression twisted when she saw the tiny snake.
"You screamed over this?" Beatrice Quincy crossed her arms, irritation sharp in her voice.
The actress looked murderous after being woken abruptly.
Rachel's lips quivered, speechless.
"Weren't you the one who bragged about catching snakes barehanded in the countryside?" Hugo Rothschild's voice was glacial.
His piercing gaze pinned Rachel in place.
Leo jutted his chin defensively. "She was ambushed!"
"Ambushed?" Hugo's laugh was icy. "This thing moves slower than a snail."
Rachel's face burned crimson. Tears welled in her eyes.
Timothy rubbed his temples. "Everyone disperse. We have filming tomorrow."
As he turned away, he couldn't suppress a weary sigh.
These siblings were becoming insufferable.
