Chapter 34

Professor Benjamin Klein cleared his throat, his gaze sweeping across the room.

"I've already submitted her special admission application. Today we're here to complete the enrollment process."

Dr. Gregory Evans frowned slightly, his eyes lingering on Evelyn Laurent's youthful face. "Professor Klein, even with your recommendation, she must pass the entrance exam," he said firmly.

"I understand the rules." Professor Klein gave a slight nod.

Dr. Evans turned and retrieved a sealed exam packet from the safe, handing it to Evelyn. "This is Harvard University's special admission test."

"It covers physics, mathematics, biology, and other advanced subjects," he added. "The passing score is 80 out of 100."

Evelyn took the exam, her fingers lightly tracing the paper.

Without even glancing at the questions, she walked to an empty seat and began writing.

The scratch of her pen filled the room.

The office door suddenly swung open, revealing Oliver Valentine. He nodded politely to the group, but his eyes remained fixed on Evelyn.

Could this girl, raised in the countryside, really pass Harvard's special admission exam?

Oliver sidled up to Ethan Sullivan and whispered, "Is your fiancée really up for this? These special admission spots are highly coveted."

Professor Klein's sharp gaze cut through the air like a blade.

"Are you doubting my protégé?"

A chill ran down Oliver's spine. He quickly raised his hands. "Professor, that's not what I meant!"

Others in the room, including Dr. Evans, shot disapproving looks before refocusing on Evelyn as she worked.

Oliver awkwardly pulled Ethan out of the office.

"What's really going on here?" he demanded the moment the door closed.

Ethan remained impassive. "You saw for yourself."

Oliver ran a hand through his carefully styled hair. "Professor Klein actually took her as his final disciple?" He studied his friend suspiciously. "This isn't some scheme of yours—"

Before he could finish, Ethan's expression turned icy.

"Do you think Professor Klein can be manipulated?" His voice dripped with frost. "When he refuses someone..."

Ethan stepped closer, each word sharp as a blade. "Not even God himself could change his mind."

He gave Oliver's shoulder a meaningful pat. "Your family should know that better than anyone."

Oliver winced. "Don't remind me."

His sister Isabella had exhausted every possible method to become Professor Klein's student. Yet the professor's answer never changed: No.

It had become a sore point for the entire Valentine family.
