Chapter 277
Steward Zhang had just finished speaking with Vincent Sullivan when Victoria Langley's entourage arrived at the Sullivan mansion with an imposing presence.
"Sir, the Langleys are here," Steward Zhang announced respectfully as he opened the door, but his heart skipped a beat when he saw their expressions.
He silently lit a metaphorical candle for young master Ethan in his mind.
"What a pleasant surprise. To what do we owe this visit?"
Vincent Sullivan greeted them with a warm smile, his gaze sweeping over the Langley family before settling on Evelyn Laurent.
The six Langley brothers stood rigid, their faces stormy with barely contained fury.
Though Victoria and Richard Langley appeared composed, the chilling aura around them was palpable.
Only Evelyn remained unfazed.
Vincent took note of everything.
"We came to speak with Ethan," Victoria said coolly. "Evelyn has something to say to him in person."
"Steward Zhang, fetch my son," Vincent instructed casually. "The boy locked himself in his room earlier—no idea what got into him."
He deliberately paused.
"I've never seen him so distraught before."
As he spoke, Vincent cast a meaningful glance at Evelyn.
Victoria and Richard exchanged a look, understanding dawning.
They took their seats on the sofa, and Victoria cut straight to the point. "Vincent, given our families' longstanding friendship, I'll speak frankly."
She could tell Vincent already knew everything.
And more importantly—
He seemed to be leaving the decision entirely in the Langleys' hands.
Vincent nodded. "Of course."
Upstairs, Ethan Sullivan gripped the woven charm bracelet so tightly his knuckles turned white.
A tempest of emotions raged in his eyes, his entire body taut with restless agitation.
Knock knock knock—
"Young master, the Langleys are here. Your father requests your presence."
Ethan's heart lurched.
Suppressing his unease, he schooled his expression and opened the door.
Downstairs, the Langleys and Vincent sat facing each other, the air thick with tension.
The moment Ethan appeared, his gaze locked onto Evelyn.
Simultaneously, six pairs of icy eyes pinned him in place, their hostility sharp enough to flay him alive.
"Uncle, Aunt, Alexander... Theodore," Ethan greeted each respectfully.
Theodore Langley scoffed. "Don't call me that—you're older than me!"
The address made his skin crawl.
How could this man have such audacity?
"Sit," Victoria said flatly, not even sparing him a glance.
Her demeanor was a far cry from her usual warmth.
Vincent smoothly intervened. "Weren't we here to discuss something?"
Alexander Langley wordlessly slid a document across the table toward Vincent. "Take a look, Mr. Sullivan."
His voice was glacial.
After pushing the file forward, he withdrew his hand, offering no further explanation.
Ethan's temple throbbed as he recognized the contents.
His lips pressed into a thin line, his gaze darkening as it returned to Evelyn.
