Chapter 153
Sophia Lowell's face flushed crimson.
Her knuckles turned white as she clenched the pink diamond bracelet.
"Evelyn Laurent, what do you mean by that?" Her voice trembled.
Evelyn leaned back lazily in her chair, tapping the table with her fingertips.
"Can't understand simple words?" She smirked. "I said you're not worthy."
The room fell silent.
Sophia's friends immediately erupted.
"How dare you say that?"
"That bracelet is a limited edition!"
"Maybe yours is the fake one!"
Evelyn slowly pulled out a gilded certificate from her bag and slapped it on the table.
"Celestia Designs authentication." She arched a brow at Sophia. "Where's yours?"
Sophia's breathing grew ragged.
She suddenly remembered Sebastian Royston's evasive eyes when he gave her the bracelet.
"I... left it at home."
Evelyn laughed.
The sound sent chills down Sophia's spine.
"What a coincidence." Evelyn turned to Lillian Rothschild. "Lillian, what's Celestia's purchase protocol?"
Lillian adjusted her glasses. "Each piece comes with a digital certificate tied to the buyer's ID."
Sophia's nails dug into her palms.
She felt everyone's stares like knives against her skin.
"My brother gave me this! It's real!" She forced out the words.
Evelyn stood.
She walked toward Sophia, looking down at her with icy disdain.
"Shall we call your brother right now?" Her voice was soft. "Ask him what he actually bought for you?"
Sophia's pupils contracted.
She realized Evelyn had planned this.
The bitch knew everything.
"I—" Her voice caught in her throat.
Whispers swirled around them.
"Is it really fake?"
"Look at her reaction..."
Evelyn leaned in, whispering words only Sophia could hear:
"This is just the beginning."
Straightening, she smiled at Sophia's ashen face.
"Oh, one more thing." She raised her voice. "My brother Sebastian founded Celestia. Need me to authenticate it for you?"
The words detonated like a bomb.
Sophia's world spun.
Now she understood why Evelyn had targeted the bracelet.
"You—"
"No... I don't..." She stumbled backward.
Evelyn watched her flee, cold satisfaction glinting in her eyes.
The game had only just begun.
She would teach Sophia the true meaning of humiliation.
