Chapter 203

Evelyn drew back the string of her compound bow, her gaze locked on the distant bullseye.

The second arrow sliced through the air.

The third followed in quick succession.

Ethan stood nearby, his eyes never leaving her. In just over ten minutes, she had gone from awkward beginner to effortless mastery.

His gaze darkened.

This girl never ceased to amaze him. Studies, games, archery—if she set her mind to it, she mastered it.

Evelyn practiced for another half hour, each arrow landing in the eight or nine rings.

Her progress was astonishingly fast.

She was having too much fun to feel fatigue. Even as the target moved farther away, her arrows still struck true.

Most impressive was her arm strength. The heaviest bow felt weightless in her hands, the string drawn back without strain.

Ethan studied her stance, thoughtful.

They’d need to expand the range soon.

He pulled out his phone and texted his assistant: Begin preparations for an outdoor shooting range immediately.

Evelyn didn’t notice. She set down the bow, her attention caught by the firearms on the other side.

"How do you use this?"

She eagerly picked up a pistol, testing its weight.

Every weapon here was legally registered, loaded with safety rounds.

"Let me show you."

He stepped behind her, guiding her hands through loading, chambering, and aiming.

Evelyn learned frighteningly fast.

Three hours later, fatigue finally crept in, but her eyes still sparkled with excitement.

"I should ask my brother to build something like this," she mused.

Ethan stilled.

"Why?" he asked softly.

"I can’t keep bothering you." She said it like it was obvious.

He set down his gun and met her gaze. "You’re always welcome here. Anytime."

The sincerity in his voice sent a tremor through her.

"Well... alright." She relented, then added, "But the space is a bit cramped."

A faint smile touched his lips as he lifted his phone. "Already working on an outdoor range. You’ll see it soon."

In truth, he’d already ordered his assistant to expedite the project.

"Really?" Her eyes lit up.

Ethan’s efficiency never failed to impress her.
