Chapter 206
She carried two glasses of freshly squeezed juice as she walked away.
Margaret Hill glared venomously at Evelyn Laurent's retreating figure but didn't dare follow. Instead, she dragged Sophia Lowell back into the private dining room.
The two women frantically wiped juice stains from their clothes.
"How did that bitch end up here?"
Margaret spat through gritted teeth.
Moments ago, she hadn't dared to breathe too loudly in Evelyn's presence. Now she raged like a rabid dog.
Sophia shrank back slightly. "Mom, she has powerful backing now... we can't afford to cross her."
Her fingers trembled as she recalled Evelyn single-handedly taking down a dozen burly men.
The memory of that devastating punch to a man's temple still made her blood run cold.
Margaret crumpled a napkin in frustration. "Didn't you say you knew the Royston heir? When are you introducing me?"
Sophia's neck stiffened instantly.
Her hand flew to the bruise hidden beneath her collarbone.
Sebastian Royston hadn't contacted her in three days.
The company was in chaos—shareholders dumping stocks, the CFO absconding with funds...
Yet she couldn't go to the police.
Those shady financial records wouldn't survive scrutiny.
"We... broke up," Sophia lied, twisting the hem of her blouse. "He got bored and dumped me."
At least she'd siphoned off company assets beforehand.
The legal liability fell on Vincent Lowell, currently comatose in the ICU.
Margaret's eyes reddened. "Your father and brother are still hospitalized... and we can't even find who did this..."
Sophia stared at the fruit pulp floating in her juice.
She knew exactly who was responsible.
That invincible figure from the fighting ring was now laughing carefree in the next room.
Yet she lacked even the courage to file a police report.
"Once Sebastian tires of her..." Sophia studied her distorted reflection in the glass. "Let's see how long she keeps that arrogance."
A hairline crack suddenly split the crystal tumbler.
