Chapter 212

Sophia Lowell bit her lip. "About... a hundred million."

Vincent Lowell's eyes widened in shock.

His chest heaved violently. His face turned deathly pale. He collapsed backward like a felled tree.

The heart monitor screeched an alarm.

Margaret Hill threw herself at the hospital bed. "Vincent!"

Doctors and nurses rushed in. They wheeled the barely conscious Vincent back to the operating room.

Sophia stood frozen, her eyes red-rimmed. "Mom, I did everything I could..."

Her fists clenched. Her voice cracked. "They'd already transferred most of the assets. Recovering this much was..."

Margaret whirled around, eyes blazing with betrayal. "You swore the company was stable! Why lie to me?"

"You were taking care of Dad and Brandon! I didn't want to burden you!" Sophia lifted her chin defiantly.

A wave of bitterness rose in her chest.

Did they think she wanted the Lowell empire to crumble?

If only her father hadn't crossed the wrong people...

——

Beverly Hills.

A black Maybach glided to a stop before the Lowell mansion.

Ethan Sullivan circled to the passenger side. He opened the door for Evelyn Laurent.

"Evelyn, you're late," Victoria Langley called from the doorway.

Evelyn smoothed her dress. "Ethan took me to an art exhibition."

Standing beside her, Ethan smiled warmly. "Don't worry, Mrs. Langley. I kept her safe."

Victoria's eyes sparkled. "Come inside! Your brother Nathaniel just returned from abroad."

She called up the staircase, "Nathaniel! Your sister's home!"

Hurried footsteps echoed from above.

Four tall figures descended in succession.

Alexander Langley stepped forward first. He subtly pulled Evelyn to his side. "Did you have fun today?"

Evelyn nodded, recounting the day's adventures.

Ethan settled into an armchair. His gaze never left her.

The four brothers exchanged glances.

They used to think the Sullivan heir was decent enough.

Now he just looked like a nuisance.

Their precious baby sister...

How dare this man even look at her?
