Chapter 214
Victoria Langley's feather duster sliced through the air with a sharp whistle.
A crisp smack echoed through the room.
Nathaniel Langley's thigh took the full brunt of the strike.
"Mom!" He sucked in a sharp breath, instinctively shrinking closer to Sebastian.
"I was just telling the truth!"
Victoria scoffed. "Brutal honesty? Show me what that looks like, then."
The living room atmosphere turned glacial.
Four brothers sat rigidly side by side on the couch, barely daring to breathe.
Dominic opened his mouth to defend himself—
"Don't even start." Victoria cut him off with a glare. "Think being a lawyer makes you special?"
The feather duster rose again.
Dominic immediately straightened his spine. "I was wrong!"
Across from them, Evelyn Laurent bit back a laugh.
Who would've thought the formidable Lowell brothers could be tamed by a simple feather duster?
Especially Alexander.
The usually cold, commanding business tycoon now sat with his head bowed, meek as a quail.
"Listen up." Victoria pointed the duster at her sons. "I approve of Ethan. If any of you dare make things difficult for him—"
She paused deliberately.
Four heads shook in unison. "We wouldn't dare."
Evelyn's smile froze.
Damn it.
Mom had clearly decided Ethan Sullivan was her future son-in-law.
But marriage was the last thing on Evelyn's mind.
Breaking off the engagement would require... careful planning.
At the very least—
She needed to wait until her mother put that feather duster away.
