Chapter 396
Evelyn Laurent remained oblivious to the others' thoughts.
Her fingers traced the wood grain as she meticulously arranged lumber of various shapes.
"Measure this for me," she said without looking up at Ethan Sullivan.
Ethan immediately set down his tools and reached for the measuring tape.
Julian Langley watched in fascination. "Where did you learn these skills, little sister?"
Evelyn only smiled in response.
The sun dipped toward the horizon, casting golden light over the wooden planks covering the cabin floor.
"We can assemble it tomorrow." Evelyn stretched, her eyes alight with anticipation.
She envisioned herself reclining on the handmade deck chair, sea breeze caressing her face.
A sudden realization struck her.
Hadn't Victoria Langley gifted her an island for her birthday?
Evelyn shot to her feet, her expression shifting abruptly.
"What's wrong?" Ethan instantly noticed her change in demeanor.
"I need to see the production crew." She strode toward the exit.
Ethan fell into step beside her without hesitation. "I'm coming with you."
Julian scrambled after them. "Wait for me!"
Bianca Fairchild remained at the campsite, watching their retreating figures with thoughtful eyes.
Inside the production tent, Timothy Gold paced anxiously.
"Assistant director! Evelyn Laurent's group is approaching!" a staff member reported breathlessly.
Timothy wiped his sweaty brow. "What does she want now?"
Evelyn marched in and cut straight to the chase. "Who owns this island?"
Timothy blinked. "That's...confidential business information—"
"Do you know or not?" Evelyn's voice sharpened.
Ethan moved half a step closer, positioning himself at her side.
Timothy mopped his forehead. "We've only communicated with the owner's assistant..."
Evelyn's eyes narrowed, her pulse quickening.
Could this island truly be hers?
