Chapter 414

"Evelyn, you're amazing!" Julian Langley's eyes sparkled. "Winning so many rounds on your first try!"

He couldn't be prouder of his little sister.

The more brilliant she was, the less likely she'd be interested in that Ethan Sullivan.

Evelyn Laurent shook her head slightly, her gaze lingering meaningfully on Ethan. "Third Brother, Ethan was going easy on us."

She'd seen through his strategy.

Several times, he could've won but deliberately held back.

Since he seemed to be enjoying himself, she hadn't called him out—until now.

Julian's face fell instantly.

"You two..." He sighed dramatically. "You're not even human!"

Outsmarted at every turn.

Evelyn laughed softly. "Don't be upset, Third Brother. I'll have Ethan transfer all the winnings to you."

"No!" Julian waved his hands frantically. "You earned that fair and square."

Ethan watched Evelyn with tender warmth.

Every moment with her felt like a dream.

As dusk settled, the storm finally ceased.

The post-rain air was crisp and refreshing.

Evelyn hopped off the yacht eagerly.

"Solid ground feels so much better," she breathed deeply.

The constant swaying had been unsettling.

Ethan followed close behind, chuckling. "Agreed."

Suddenly, Evelyn frowned, her sharp eyes darting toward the far side of the island.

"Do you hear that?" she whispered.

Ethan tensed. "Engine sounds."

Their eyes met in silent understanding.

Ethan spun toward the yacht.

Evelyn vanished into the dense foliage like a shadow.

"Code red!" Ethan pounded on Timothy Gold's door. "Initiate evacuation. Launch the drone feed!"

Without waiting for a response, he sprinted after Evelyn.

Timothy complied immediately, though confused.

When the drone footage appeared, he gasped.

On the opposite shore, a fishing boat had docked.

A dozen foreigners scouted the area.

One suddenly raised his weapon.

BANG!

The gunshot shattered the night.
