Chapter 447
Beatrice Quincy's pupils contracted slightly as she grasped the hidden meaning in her father's words.
Bianca Fairchild still bore the Quincy family name.
To the Quincys, she might be nothing more than a Luck Charmer. But she remained one of them.
How dare the Langleys take a Quincy without permission?
Unless they were prepared to burn all bridges.
As one of the four elite families in the capital, the Langleys wouldn't be so reckless.
Reginald Quincy's eyes glinted coldly as he plotted Bianca's retrieval. He didn't know she'd already left with Evelyn Laurent, speeding toward the international airport.
Bianca bought a last-minute international ticket and boarded without hesitation.
The timing wasn't ideal.
But this was her only chance to escape the Quincys forever.
As for her grandmother—she trusted Evelyn implicitly to care for her. They'd arranged a video call once Bianca settled abroad.
No time for luggage. Just her passport, phone, and the black card Evelyn pressed into her hand—Alexander Langley's unlimited global credit line.
Every second counted. She had to leave the country before the Quincys noticed. Then disappear completely.
Outside the airport, inside a Langley vehicle, Evelyn watched the ascending plane with conflicted emotions.
Victoria Langley squeezed her hand. "Bianca will be safe."
She understood Bianca's plight. Supported her escape from the Quincy gilded cage.
Evelyn nodded absently.
Victoria smiled knowingly. "Worried about Ethan?"
Evelyn didn't deny it. "Yes."
A pause. "He got hurt protecting me."
Victoria sighed but said nothing more.
Their convoy headed straight to the hospital for Ethan Sullivan's full examination.
In the corridor, Richard Langley approached Vincent Sullivan with visible guilt. "Old friend, this time—"
Vincent raised a hand. "No apologies necessary."
His expression remained calm, even smiling at Evelyn. "Ethan made his own choice. This isn't on you."
Evelyn blinked. "Uncle Vincent..."
The older man chuckled. Though his only son lay unconscious from saving Evelyn, no resentment showed. "I'd have beaten him if he failed to protect you."
"That boy finally acts like a man!"
The words struck Evelyn deeply.
The facade of indifference couldn't hide the truth—this was his sole heir. How could he not care?
