Chapter 50
Evelyn Laurent had just reached the classroom door when she heard Sophia Lowell's deliberately pitiful voice.
"Please don't misunderstand my sister... She's just very straightforward..."
Sophia stood by the lectern, her eyes slightly reddened, putting on an innocent, vulnerable act.
The surrounding students whispered among themselves, casting disdainful glances at Evelyn.
"I heard she bullies her sister just because her family's rich..."
"How can someone like her be student council president..."
Sophia lowered her head, but a smug smirk secretly curled her lips.
Suddenly, an icy gaze made her freeze.
Isabella Valentine leaned against the window, her slender fingers tapping the desk, eyes sharp as blades.
"I-Isabella..." Sophia's voice trembled.
Isabella let out a cold laugh. "Had enough of your performance?"
The classroom instantly fell silent.
Sophia turned pale. "I don't know what you mean—"
Bang!
Isabella slammed the desk and stood, her red lips curling in mockery. "Stop pretending. You think I'm stupid?"
She strode toward Sophia, her heels clicking sharply against the floor.
"Trying to use others as your weapons?" Isabella whispered in her ear. "You're not worthy."
Sophia staggered back, nearly falling.
"Get out." Isabella straightened, looking down at her. "Try this act again and you'll regret it."
The classroom was deathly quiet.
Sophia covered her face and fled, her lackeys scrambling after her.
"Isabella Valentine! That was too much!" a girl shouted angrily.
Isabella casually adjusted her cuffs. "Want to defend her?"
The girl immediately fell silent.
Evelyn stood at the doorway, watching thoughtfully.
Isabella noticed her gaze and scoffed. "What are you looking at?"
Evelyn smiled slightly. "Thank you."
"Don't flatter yourself." Isabella turned away. "I just hate being used."
Sunlight streamed through the window, casting a golden glow on Isabella's delicate profile.
For the first time, Evelyn thought this young heiress might not be so bad after all.
